"As a performance psychology coach my job is to help performers, teams, coaches and organisations deliver their best performances when it counts."

Charlie graduated from Durham University where he read Psychology before joining the Army as an officer in 2001. After one year at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Charlie commissioned into the Royal Horse Artillery with whom he served in Iraq as a platoon commander. He was responsible for conducting various counter-insurgency operations as well as training and recruiting the new Basra police force.

Continuing his sport Charlie was later seconded into the GB Performance Centre for Modern Pentathlon in Bath. Within just two years he was ranked top three in Great Britain and was selected for Team GB at the World Championships. In 2007 Charlie was National Champion. It was during his time as an athlete that Charlie's passion for applied psychology flourished, believing this to be a fundamental contributor towards his achievements rather than talent!

Charlie retired as an athlete in order to pursue this passion. Whilst gaining a further MSc in Sport Psychology at Brunel University, he won a national award for his applied research into “motivational climate”.

Since then Charlie has worked with various Olympic teams and athletes from a wide range of sports including Equestrian, Fencing, Beach Volleyball and Modern Pentathlon. Charlie is currently working with GB Young Riders and Junior Event Teams as well as the Winter Olympic GB Skeleton Team.

Charlie is also a consultant at Lane4 sharing his insights into performance environments, team dynamics, leadership, coaching and performing under pressure within business. Charlie has designed and delivered programmes for a number of FTSE100 companies including RBS, LloydsTSB and Sainsbury's.
